Today’s “popular” trend is to mix fiction with truth.
We see this in the likes of Dan Brown’s N.O.V.E.L.S. and the revisionism of “modern” history, tantamount of declaring that everything that is of the “old” is something to be thrown in the trash bin, as if TREASURING OUR HERITAGE is but a thing of the “past”.
What was true back then is already presented as “false”, what was unacceptable is now seen as “acceptable”, what was once is but pure debauchery is now hailed as “modern day sophistication and progressiveness”.
And because of these, there is too much confusion in the world today, even those who are enfolded by the maternal mantle of our Holy Mother the Church.
Yet, when we weigh all of these with the HISTORICAL AND ETERNAL TRUTH of the GOSPEL, and we carefully analyze all of its contents, we see that these half truths in its various manifestations are nothing but PURE LIES, nothing more, nothing less!
There is too much darkness, wherewith today’s society, today’s passive fads would even dare exchange its obviously counterfeited “glory” with the AWESOME CROSS OF OUR SALVATION!
Today’s Gospel readings are inviting us to GLORY ONLY IN THE CROSS, OUR ONLY HOPE, and let this LIVING HOPE be the SOLE IMPETUS of our work in the world, especially in the field of our service for the poorest of the poor and those who are deprived of justice: the preborn child (from it’s wonderful beginnings as an embryo), the elderly, those who are differently abled, those who are terminally ill, those who are dying of hunger and oppression, those whose human dignity is unjustly degraded!
Let the WONDERFUL CROSS OF OUR SALVATION, the PERFECT SACRIFICE of our BLESSED LORD AND SWEET, SOVEREIGN REDEEMER, JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, RE-LIVED EVERYDAY IN THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT OF THE DIVINE LITURGY OF THE MOST SUBLIME SACRIFICE OF THE MASS, be the DRIVING FORCE of our day-to-day lives, in our homes, in our families, in our communities, in our schools, in our places of work, IN EVERY SECOND OF OUR LIVES!
LET THE LIGHT OF CHRIST, THE SOLE HOPE OF THE WHOLE COSMOS DISPEL THE DARKNESS OF CONFUSING RIGHT FROM WRONG, OF BEING AN AUTHENTIC AND CHRISTOCENTRIC “GOOD SAMARITAN” FROM A MERE ANTHROPOCETRIC “DO GOOD-ER”, OF A TRUE DISCIPLE OF THE CROSS FROM A COWARDICE FOLLOWER OF HEDONISM, OF FAITH AND REASON WITH MERE RELATIVISM!
MAY WE HAVE THE FAITH OF THE BLESSED APOSTLE PETER, INSTEAD OF HIS COWARDICE, AND MAY WE HUMBLE OURSELVES, FOLLOWING HIS EXAMPLE, TO RISE FROM OUR USELESS FEARS AND HAVE THE GOD-GIVEN COURAGE OF LIVING FOR, WITH AND IN THE GOSPEL OF OUR BLESSED SALVATION!
MAY OUR LIVES CONFIDENTLY DECLARE THAT CHRIST JESUS IS INDEED OUR SOLE HOPE, AND THAT IN HIM WE WILL NEVER BE CONFOUNDED!
