While the whole of Baranggay Parang was covered in darkness because of the power outage due to the rage typhoon “Glenda”, my mother and I opted to be in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Divine Liturgy of the Most Sublime Sacrifice of the Mass for the Feast of the Blessed and Ever-Virgin Mother, Mary, the Flower of Carmel.

Only with a few candles to light the whole Sanctuary that is enveloped by darkness, the Reverend Father in Christ, Luisito “Louie” Atanacio offered the Most Sacred Sacrifice in the Person of Christ.

This night will be forever etched in my memory due to the fact that our beloved country is also in a state of darkness, due to widespread corruption, the malversation of public funds through the unconstitutional vehicles of the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP).

In the midst of all of this confusion, utter devastation, and widespread commendation of evil through the various manifestations of the culture of death, JESUS IS STILL THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD! HE IS STILL THE WONDERFUL AND AWESOME HEALER!

And I know that to all these seeming “dumbness” and “deafness” of those who are sadly holding the position of public trust, THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS ONLY HAS ONE WORD OF COMMAND TO UTTER:

Ἐφφαθά-אתפתח-EPHPHATHA! BE OPENED!

BE OPENED AND LET THE KING OF GLORY ENTER!

BE OPENED AND LET THE הַגּוֹיִ֑ם כָּל־ חֶמְדַּ֣ת-HEMDAT KALHAGOWYIM-THE DESIRE OF 
THE NATIONS AND THE FULLNESS OF ALL OUR DESIRES ENTER AND CHANGE YOU HEARTS OF STONE TO NEW HEARTS OF FLESH THAT IS ONLY AFTER HIS WILL AND WAYS!

BE OPENED! Ἐφφαθά-אתפתח-EPHPHATHA! AND LET GOD REIGN IN HIS PEARL OF THE ORIENT SEAS!

BE OPENED AND LET GOD RULE AND REIGN!

JESUS CHRIST OF NAZARETH, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD, WITH MARY HIS EVER VIRGIN MOTHER AND OUR MOTHER TOO, HE ALONE CAN AND WILL CHANGE THIS LAND FROM GLORY TO GLORY INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT!

HE IS OUR SURE AND ONLY HOPE!

HE IS OUR SOLE WAY, OUR SOLE TRUTH AND THE SOLE FULLNESS OF OUR LIFE!
