ENDLESS LOVE AFFAIR started through the Children's Ministry of our Parish:
MUNTING KRISTO (LITTLE CHRIST)...
It was a MATCH MADE IN
HEAVEN...
They were BLESSED IN
THEIR MARRIED LIFE FOR 20+ YEARS...
Then it happened...
It was on the evening of
May 17, 2013...
Kuya Jun was riding his
motorcycle on his way home from work when he got into a HIT AND RUN accident
involving him and a delivery truck...
The driver of the truck,
maybe out of shock and panic due to the tragedy that had occurred, fled...
Kuya Jun was dead on the
spot...
Ate Noemi, who was
anxiously searching for her husband's whereabouts on the morning of the 18th,
was devastated...
She was asking GOD
why?...
Why should the LOVE OF
HER LIFE be taken from her in such an unexpected way?...
Why did HE not allow
them to celebrate the SILVER ANNIVERSARY OF THEIR SACRED UNION THAT HE HAS
BLESSED THEM WITH?...
Yet, in the midst of all
these endless questions, perhaps what I would call utter bewilderment, she was
still HOLDING ON TO OUR BLESSED LORD AND SWEET REDEEMER...
She even dared to THANK
HIM FOR GIVING HER A PARTNER IN THIS, OUR EARTHLY PILGRIMAGE, AND LETTING THEIR
LOVE GROWN AND BEAR MUCH FRUIT...
A FAITHFUL AND SELFLESS
LOVE THAT REACHES INFINITY AND BEYOND!
As she was sharing this
during our PARISH RENEWAL EXPERIENCE last SEPTEMBER 14, THE GREAT FEAST OF THE
TRIUMPH OF THE CROSS, I have nothing more but ADMIRATION for this loving wife,
educator, mother and co-minister IN CHRIST!
She may be in such a
painful and terrible tragedy, but yet she was still willing TO BE BROKEN AND
SPILLED OUT, TO BE A LIVING BREAD OF BLESSING AND SPIRITUAL SUSTENANCE TO HER
BELOVED SIBLINGS IN THE LORD!
May we, who would only
hold on to GOD when times are easy, comfortable and oh-so jolly, be CHALLENGED
TO ALSO EMBRACE HIS CROSS THAT HAS GIVEN US NEW LIFE AND THE FULLNESS OF IT,
EVEN IN TIMES OF OUR OWN TRIBULATIONS!
May we learn to OFFER,
just like Ate Noemi and THE BLESSED APOSTLE PAUL, our SORROWS AND SUFFERINGS IN
PERFECT UNION WITH OUR RISEN AND CRUCIFIED KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS
THROUGH THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT OF THE DIVINE LITURGY OF THE MOST SUBLIME
SACRIFICE OF THE MASS!
May our lives DARE TO
PROCLAIM:
"From now on let no one cause trouble for me,
for I bear on my body the brand-marks of JESUS."
