Last April 28, 2013. as I was watching GMA NEWS TV's "FRONT ROW" that featured the VALIANT MODERN-DAY KATIPUNERA, CARMEN "NANAY MAMENG" DEUNIDA, I was surprised to learn that she starts her daily routine in attending the MASS at the QUIAPO BASILICA!

Her Fight for the EQUAL RIGHTS FOR HOLISTIC HEALTHCARE, SUSTAINABLE LIVELIHOOD,  ADEQUATE HOUSING PROJECTS AND QUALITY EDUCATION starts in the CELEBRATION OF THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT.   

Just like her BLESSED LORD, she bares THE SAVING CROSS on the streets of Metro Manila, exhorting the modern day Caesars, Herods and Pontius Pilates of our government to be transformed into NEW MATTHEWS AND ZACCHAEUSES of our time.

Meek and Humble of heart, for many years she has been fighting for these FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS, which are of FAR MORE GREATER IMPORTANCE than the so called "new rights" of today's society, for her KABABAYANS who are suffering in the slums.

And Just like OUR BLESSED MOTHER, Nanay Mameng invites us to DO WHATEVER JESUS TELLS US TO, even to the point of SACRIFICING OUR GRIP ON WEALTH AND POWER for the betterment of our nation.  

In today's society where the rich are getting richer and the poor are dying of hunger, Nanay Mameng invites us to kindly recall our lifestyles, for the more we INDULGE INTO OUR SELF-CENTERED, CHILDISH CAPRICES, the more we close our eyes and are numb to the SUFFERING OF OUR BELOVED COUNTRYMEN AND WOMEN.   

A CHILD-LIKE FAITH AND A TRANSFORMING VALOR FOR AUTHENTIC BAYANIHAN... 

A NATION-BUILDING WHERE EVERYONE IS INVOLVED AND NO ONE IS LEFT OUT...

A CALL FOR A SOCIETY WHERE EVERY FAMILY IS PROTECTED AND EMPOWERED TO HAVE A LIFE THAT IS SIMPLE YET SUFFICIENT AND NOT LACKING IN ANYTHING...

This is what we can all learn from Nanay Mameng!
