August 29, 2012 A.D.

As I was watching the Philippines' Longest-running noontime show: EAT BULAGA! and Its ALL FOR JUAN, JUAN FOR ALL: BAYANIHAN OF THE PEOPLE, they featured a blind man, staying in one of the Baranggays of the of Quiapo District, in the City of Manila.

Due to his work as a cook in 2000, his optical nerves were affected by the everyday heat, causing him to completely lose his sight...

But he never lose HOPE...

BLESSED with a beautiful voice of a tenor, he continued to provide for his Family as a wedding singer.

Sadly, due to poverty, his wife opted to stay in Bicol with their two children, leaving him with his 3 year old son in Manila.

For six years now, this son of his has been helping his Father, being his "eyes," guiding him to Quiapo Basilica where he sings at the 4:00 P.M. MASS and on NUPTIAL MASSES. The Parish Priest has opted to give a him a part of the "Mass collection" so that he may be able to fend for his son and to pay for their daily expenses, including the 1,500 Php monthly rental of their abode that is more like a "stock room."

Amidst of the cruelty of urban life, he was able to gain friends who help him go through his own personal tribulations...

AND HE WAS ALSO ABLE TO GAIN THE MOST AWESOME OF ALL FRIENDS: Ἰησοῦν τὸν Ναζωραῖον-IESOUN TON NAZAROIN...

JESUS THE NAZARENE!

HIS REAL PRESENCE IN THE MOST BLESSED SACRAMENT OF THE DIVINE LITURGY OF THE MOST SUBLIME OF THE MASS, has turned his dreams that were reduced to mere ashes due to his blindness, INTO A LIVING, RESURRECTED REALITY!

HE WHO IS THE BEST-EST OF ALL FRIENDS HAS PROVIDED NOT ONLY HOPE, BUT THE REALIZATION, THE VERY SUBSTANCE OF THAT HOPE!

JESUS, WHOSE SUFFERING IMAGE IN QUIAPO BASILICA HAS PROCLAIMED THE LIVING TRUTH OF GOD EMBRACING NOT ONLY OUR WRETCHED NATURE, BUT ALSO OUR SUFFERINGS! OUR TRIALS! OUR TRIBULATIONS THAT EACH AND EVERYONE OF US HAS GONE THROUGH OR IS STILL GOING THROUGH FOR FOUR CENTURIES!

HE WHO IS ONE WITH US IN EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR OUR SINS, HAS SAVED US ON CALVARY AND GAVE US NEW LIFE, MAKING US HIS NEW CREATION!

THE OMNIPOTENT EMPEROR HAS EMPTIED HIMSELF TO BE THE IMPOVERISHED COMMONER, A CARPENTER OF NAZARETH!

THE ONE, ETERNAL AND ALMIGHTY SON OF THE FATHER, FROM WHOM AND THROUGH WHOM AND FOR WHOM ALL THINGS WERE MADE, HAS UNITED HIMSELF WITH HIS CREATION!

Just like that blind wedding singer and church cantor of Quiapo Basilica, who is also a good father and husband, may we have this ETERNAL EXPERIENCE OF JESUS' AWESOME FRIENDSHIP THIS BLESSED SEASON OF SPRINGTIME... LENT!

ON THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION
