There is this story narrated by the Reverend Father Bel San Luis of the Societas Verbi Divini (Society of the Divine Word):
One time, three parish priests were discussing about bat-infestation in their churches. "I got so
mad," said one, "I took a shotgun and fired at them. Some got killed but the majority are still up there."
"I tried pesticide spray," said the second priest, "but those damn bats gave birth to new ones."
"I haven't had any more problems," said the third priest. "What did you do?" asked the interested two.
"I simply baptized them," he replied. "I haven't seen them in church since then!"
This is the case of modern day Christians.
"Lord... I will follow you... as long as you will suit my needs (wants)... as long as we are "compatible" with each other!"
We are like the nine lepers who, after being healed from our "leprous" nature of sin, would not even look back to JESUS to just say thank you.
In today's trend, if you ain't pro-RH/RP bill, pro-Lady Gaga, pro-New Age thinking, you should be considered an incense smoking nutcase of a Medieval Samaritan and the proponents of these fads must be placed in the pedestal of humanity, for they are the "new prophets' of these "messiahs" of our modern age.
Holy Mother Church and even the "primitive" Jesus Christ are now considered as the enemy of "progress."
Indeed we are like those bats, those nine who are of the "chosen race," considering ourselves as the "answer" to the problems of the world instead of looking to JESUS who is LIFE IN ALL ITS FULLNESS AND SPLENDOR.
And yet, HE waits patiently for our RETURN back to HIS LOVING ARMS in the SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION (

Thus exclaiming with our very lives in union with the Holy Apostles Peter:
"LORD... to whom shall we go? ... YOU ARE THE INCARNATE WORD, THE VERY BREAD OF ETERNAL LIFE!"
